Out of Memory Errors

Error message: We couldn't get data from the external source. Here's the error message we got: Memory error: Allocation failure - Not enough storage is available to process this command. If using a 32-bit version of the product, consider upgrading to the 64-bit version or increasing the amount of memory available on the machine. 

Memory Error / Allocation Failure

Description: This error occurs because the version of Excel you're using is out of memory, which is usually caused by trying to load too much data at once.

Solution: Refine your selections to return a smaller amount of data or install 64-bit Excel. A good example of this is attempting to add multiple items or levels from the same hierarchy into the rows section in a PivotTable (see below). Add as many of these examples to Filters section in the PivotTable whenever possible for smoother loads.
