Error message: Operation cancelled by user.

Error when attempting to change a filter setting in a row or column

Description: Can sometimes occur when attempting to manipulate a filter field in a cube or pivot table. The effect will manifest in attempting to add or remove a specific field that will result in the above error message. 

Solution: 

1. In the PivotTable fields on the right, find the one causing the issues and remove it from selection by dragging it away from the field map. 
   
2. With the filter now unselected, find it in your assortment of field options and hover on it. Rather than selecting it, click the dropdown arrow next to the filter icon.
   
3. A new dialog window will populate giving you the option to select all options from within that field or a selection of those options. 
   
4. This will effectively give you the ability to select your filter as you had originally intended using the column or row filter option in the spreadsheet.
