To use Diligent effectively, you’ll need to log in with your Microsoft 365 account and install the Excel Add-in, which connects Excel directly to your cubes. This article guides you through access requirements, login steps, installation, and basic user management.
Overview
Diligent has two main access points:
The Diligent web portal – where you manage projects and cubes.
The Excel Add-in – which allows you to analyze data and build reports in Excel.
Both use Microsoft 365 Single Sign-On (SSO) for authentication.
Step 1: Access Requirements
Before logging in, confirm you meet the following requirements:
Microsoft 365 account: Active business license.
Provisioned access: Your administrator, Blue Ops rep, or EBM Support must add you as a user.
Excel desktop (Windows): The Add-in does not support Excel Online or Excel for Mac, but there are other options.
Internet connection: Required for authentication and refreshing cubes.
Step 2: Logging in to Diligent
Go to the Diligent login page:
abc.diligent.com.Click Sign in with Microsoft.
Enter your business email and password (if prompted).
Approve any multi-factor authentication (MFA) requests.
After logging in, you’ll see your available projects and cubes.
Tip: If you’re already signed into Microsoft 365 in your browser, you may not be prompted for credentials again.
Step 3: Installing the Excel Add-In
Close all open Excel workbooks.
Download the Add-in file here: https://blueopspartners.com/support/addin/
Find the recently downloaded file (
.msipackage) and double-click to begin installation.Follow the prompts to complete installation.
Restart your machine when prompted.
To confirm installation, open Add/Remove Programs and look for EBMOfficeBridge.
Ensure the add-in is not hidden or disabled in Excel by going to Excel > Options > Add-ins.
When you open and use Diligent-based Excel files, Excel will automatically use the add-in, which will appear as EBM Office Bridge in the ribbon.
Step 4: Connecting Excel to Diligent
To connect Excel to Diligent:
Open a Diligent-based Excel file (you’ll recognize it by the EBM Office Bridge tab in the ribbon).
Begin working in the file. When prompted, log in using your Microsoft 365 SSO credentials.
Once authenticated, you can refresh data, interact with cubes, and build pivot tables.
Step 5: Adding and Editing Users
During onboarding or project setup, Blue Ops or EBM will work with your team to add initial users. After that, client-side Admins can manage access directly in the Project Management > Members tab.
Roles and Permissions
-
Admin:
Can add or remove users from a project.
Can assign roles (Admin or Member).
Can manage projects and cubes, including structure and configuration.
-
Member:
Can access assigned projects and cubes.
Cannot add/remove users, change structure, or manage project-level settings.
This ensures your internal team controls who has access, while preserving overall project integrity.
Troubleshooting & Common Issues
Add-in not appearing: Confirm the
.msipackage was installed successfully and appears in Add/Remove Programs.Repeated login prompts: Restart Excel and sign in again.
